DEBUTS

IN 1958 AT AGE 7

His first contact with music was on the accordion and then he pursues his musical studies in piano at age 14.  In the early 1970s, he took part in the recording of the first two albums of Plume Latraverse: the first, TRINITERRE, on which he plays the piano, the accordion and the Hammond B3 organ and the second, PLUME POU DIGNE on which he does the backups vocals on the famous song "Quel Calvaire!" which has earned him the nickname of choir.  He also puts his percussionist talents to profit for the other tracks of this album.

MUSETTE ACCORDION

Parisian musette accordion specialist, he regularly performs in special events, restaurants and private receptions either solo or duet with Hélène Cardinal, one of the best Edith Piaf interpreters. Together they were the musicians of the BATEAU-MOUCHE at the Old Port of Montreal from 1997 to 2004.

STUDIO

HIGH TECHNOLOGIES

Passionate about music technologies, starting as early as 1986 he composes and produces computer-assisted music for TV5 and CKMF. The new technological tools available today, stimulate his inspiration.

ACCORDÉON NOW

THE TECHNOLOGY SERVING THE MUSIC

"Accordéon Now" is a project that I started a few years ago. It's about using technologies to design pieces of music with current trends.

I've been working with "machines" since the 80s. My first experiences with computer-assisted music go back to the DOS system (Disk Operating System) long before the Windows environment for PCs.

Here is the first piece composed for this project. Note that I was not yet using the FR8X digital accordion. The (acoustic) accordion you hear is my Brandoni Mod133.

LE CADEAU

ON DIGITAL ACCORDION

Short video inspired by the gift that my wife gave me for my birthday on July 6, 2019: a wonderful digital accordion which inspired me this piece "Le Cadeau" (The gift). I created the visual with photos of gifts that life offers us throughout our journey. My beloved Hélène Cardinal, my son Bruno (Uptick), my cat Cocotte and photos of beautiful places that I shot during my trips to France and Italy.

LA VOIX DES ANGES

orchestration by Bengt Olausson

In 1998, I was ACCORDION WORLDWIDE's Canadian representative and translator. I had to write the 1998's edition report of the  Carrefour and the first title that came to me was: "Le Carrefour de la Voix des Anges" which I shortened to "La Voix des Anges" under the inspiration of Francis Lemarque who often said to his accordionist:
"I hear the Voice of Angels come out of your accordion"

BLUESMAN

BLUES BELLOWS

Pianist at the Casanous in the 70s, he was already called "Boogie Monster" Mario Bruneau has always "blow" on boogie and blues, first on the piano and later on the accordion. The accordion is an ideal instrument for playing the blues because it is a strapped harmonica with bellows. The breath is an important part of the blues and the bellows of the accordion fulfills this role wonderfully.

Here is one of my composition "Comment Ça?"

Check also this improvised blues bellow.

ACCORDÉON NOW

THE TECHNOLOGY SERVING THE MUSIC

With this digital accordion, I become a conductor.

All musical instruments are within my reach. It's very inspiring for the composer that I am.

Here is an improvised blues, my first video with my Roland FR-8X digital accordion
